The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

Well you have to define another Ethernet to use for this. One partition
is (generally) designated as the NFS Host and so needs an interface in a
private VLAN. The other partitions also need to be in that same VLAN and
ahve that interface defined as the service tools interface.
I have not been able to do this in HMC9 even the latest because I can't
find a way to add a network interface that the HMC does not see as
bridged out. OK You can modify the profile and then restart the
partition from that but to steal a line from a very very old movie. "I
would prefer not to."
THEn there is the starting of the partition so that it does it's IPL
from that virtual image catalogue. This must be done from the HMC ONLY
if it is a new install. For IBM i upgrades the STRNETINS command is used
on the partition being upgraded.
When I install new partitions this way I use the CLI as I have a script
that does that for me. I'm TOLD it's in the GUI. Never found it and
gave up.

Then I'm not sure the HMC has any real role in the process. Only for a
network load, and then only to start the partition.

Just to be clear, this is the NFS used for PTF and IBM i upgrades using
virtual ethernet.
