I don't as I have found no reason whatever to do that. The system generates them as soon as you start the partition. So I create the partition with the command below. Then start the partition for 2 seconds and then shut it back down. Two command line commands, copy, paste, copy, past down. Tht's enough to generate the wwns. Then i list them (another CLI) and feed them into my switchinastic zone generator which also feeds by StorWize hotinator/lunmakerator. By letting IBM generate the wwns I have *zero possibility that they will ever conflict with anything. If you've ever dealt with two devices fighting over a MAC address on the network you know that is as they say 'Bad'. Having same with wwns could mean data corruption by having LPAR1 take ownership of LPAR2s disks. The Dr doesn't like that!!

Build the VIOS, all four of 'em, no sweat. Update VIOS also very easy.

Error messages that for about 2 seconds are valid until you fill in the
second WWPN will not go away, you have to bail out of the dialog and

Things do not save when they should. (even when the explicit "save"

What would have been done in about 45 minutes in the old interface has

now

taken nearly six hours because this idiotic interface does not work
properly. And that's with IBM i on a SAN. I'd hate to think what it

looks

like with IBM i hosting IBM i. I'm going to find out soon since I'll be
installing one of those next week.

Hey IBM. Test the )(*&(^&%*&$&$&$%&*() HMC code BEFORE you ship it.
Better yet, give me back the old interface that A) worked, B) was not
confusing as hell, and C) was actually productive......
