Are adapter ids unique only to the LPAR or across all LPARS?

In other words, can each LPAR have from 1 to 500?

Paul

Yes, each lpar can have any number, up to the limitation for that
particular lpar.

I often use 3 digit ID's for my adapters.
I have less then 10 lpars per system.
First digit is the "host" lpar: VIOS11 is 1, VIOS12 is 2, RACK1HOST is 3,
prod is 4...
Second digit is the "guest" lpar.
Third digit is an adapter id.

Sample
RACK1HOST hosts four server SCSI adapters for NWSD's to PROD. Therefore
it will have adapters: 341, 342, 343, 344.
PROD has four client SCSI adapters to talk back to RACK1HOST. Therefore
it will have adapters: 341, 342, 343, 344 also
They do not have to match. When you enter the client scsi adapter id it
will ask you for the matching server scsi adapter id. Our BP just started
us out with this and I've grown to understand it.
