Rob, you are dead on with that thought.

I just did a complete recovery for a customer (>10TB) a week ago. We used
BRMS. We were able to get multiple restore operations going because we had
the BRMS database that could guide us. Most likely cut the recovery by
about 1/3 time. Where BRMS really shines is when the IFS is recovering
since multiple devices can be used.

Remember unless you are really good, building that media definition object
is a real PITA, BRMS simply builds it for you. So now even if you do manual
restores, you can still use the media definition object created by BRMS to
use multiple devices.
