You sure that works Rob? I've got the impression that something more substantive (keyboard or mouse) was needed before they considered the machine to be active.

Remember, these are toys for the consumer. Not business rated machines.

Windows Updates

Absolutely not. I DO fixes but I do them when it is convenient for
myself or for my IBM i Customers when it's convenient for them.

My beef with MS is that in their minds as long as the mouse hasn't moved
or the keyboard gotten input for x number of seconds that the machine is
'not in use'. This appears to be the only way to prevent your machine
from rebooting when you get back from lunch and have a conference call,
or you step up to the podium and the machine says: "We've got a few
updates for you" IMHO that is Hubris on their part.

And for example the most recent Windows 'edition' (I think they call it
hat) was a WRECK and was bricking systems. Yes they have pulled it but I
cannot have that.

Even IBM i has issues. The DB Group just prior to current was causing
issues and was re-released with fixes.

These are reasons why auto updates are a no-go zone for me.

Larry,

Are you recommending then that one never put on fixes? On either
Windows
or IBM i or whatever?
Otherwise I would think that 365 days would be fine as one should put
patches on Windows more often than that. Just be proactive and do it
every few weeks before it starts to be a pest.
