On my last job I wrote (among other things) an archival system that allowed
the users to specify how long to retain data in the production libraries. I
also provided restore support to, well restore, the archived data to a
query library. The query library data was formatted just as it was/is in
production so existing queries could run unchanged over the "old" data and
"current" data.
