There are about 250 directories contained within a single parent dir. Counting the parent dir, the structure is four levels and then the files.

I'm not sure it's going to matter. The performance bottleneck will be the LAN between them anyway. The WinSCP and FileZilla will both give you an idea where the process is at.

Richard is correct about the ownership issue as well. That's going to
affect save security and a number of other functions as well. If the
directory structure is relatively flat, I think you're going to find the performance of the IFS to be an issue.

Another option I just thought of is rsynch, although you'd have to port that
yourself, IBM has not done that as yet. I've not checked to see if Perlz
has it done or not.
