Don't wait - Do it today while it's on your mind.
Buttons are great for adding function to a screen that will get used.
I added a function key to a program once and it was to display some
additional information - Users DO NOT READ SCREENS/FUNCTION KEYS.
But when I added a button they used it!!!
We have a bank reconciliation program, the user had to type an option on
the subfile to R=Reconcile the transaction so we added a double click to do
the same thing and we were hero's (well for a day anyway).

Thanks, Don, for the clarification - one of these days I might want to
look into these more graphical options.

In the display file we are using
MOUBTN(*ULD CF23)
So when a mouse double click is received indicator 23 is set on.
We then retrieve the cursor position and respond with the action for the
particular position on the screen the user has clicked.
We have to use double click as a single click does not provide the
cursor position.<midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx>
And because it is a subfile we can't have a button.
Works well except for when a user complains about the rectangle.
But you may have seen my post yesterday - if you double click on a blank
spot no rectangle and the user is happy with that option now.
(We actually increased the area where we were checking for the cursor to
provide a larger blank area for that person to click in)

Yeah, I can see controlling it - but it's in the client, not in 5250.
I'm still curious - how are you enabling double-click? Is that an AID
code? I haven't gone looking, so am asking.

Thanks Vern. I had not played with those options. It would be great if
these could be applied programmatically at a 5250 screen level.
Appreciate the response.

I'm not sure how you enabled double-click - there are options in the
"Hotspots..." item of Edit/Preferences to point-and-select - so a
double-click on a blank area is the same as and Enter key, while a
double-click on a string causes the string to be entered at the cursor
and enter pressed.
I've never had the rectangle appear when I use a double-click after I've
set those options. I'm currently using ACS, it is the same in PC5250.
So is there a different way you are recognizing a double-click in your
program?

We have enabled double click to allow functions for example select the
transaction.
When you double click the area on the screen will have a rectangle
annoyedany value which would allow Ctrl-C to be used to copy that data.
Do you know if there is anyway to stop the rectangle being shown.
This user is doing data entry and using the double click but gets
listwith having to click somewhere else to get rid of the rectangle.on
I have been through the preferences and can see no way to turn the copy
double click off--
Thank you for any suggestions
