Maybe, but it seems he is describing what happens, not what he enabled. 
My understanding is that a double-click will select something on the 
screen for use in the program, and that the selection box is not what 
they want to see.

I just turned off the hotspots I always use and see the behavior described.

I'll wait for the OP to reply as to what they did.
