That's generous, we do 7 days for almost every outq. We set aside one outq for folk to keep them for 1 year.

We have too many people who were afraid to make a decision as to when any spool file could ever be deleted. So we made the decision for them. Any spool file over 90 days old is deleted. No exceptions.

If you use any of the ROBOT family of products, they have a utility called
AGEOUTQ. You provide a list of OUTQs and the number of times a file will
remain on the queue. Every time you AGE the OUTQ the last characters of
the USER DATA field receive a number and is incremented. When it reaches
the number of times you specified, that spooled file goes away.

We have several 'agings' set up-- some for 2 week, some for 2 months.

Most important thing is to train your users that an output queue is NOT a
file cabinet!!

Used to be installing a new version of the OS would (sometimes) clear all
output queues. Telling users this before an upgrade will let you detect
the file cabineters by their screams of anguish! (:

Is there a way to get a list of the spool files that are currently
expired? Or the ones that will expire shortly?

We are on 7.2 and will soon implement some form of old SPLF removal.

Thanks.
