API's that support receiver variables generally allow you to specify a smaller size than the defined format.

From the docs ...
The variable that is to receive the requested information. It can be
smaller than the format requested as long as the next parameter,
length of receiver variable, specifies the length correctly. When
this variable is smaller than the format, the API returns only the
data that the variable can hold.

So specifying 527 should limit the API to returning the first 527 bytes of the format.
