Does the place sending the receipts have any other way to get the data?
Web service? XML, JSON, etc?

Parsing PDF files for data is worse that parsing spooled files for data in
my opinion. Before digging too far into that, I'd see if you can get the
data some other way, in an actual format that IS data. :)
