I'd say the system name (Really a holdover from SNA since it's only 8
characters) and the database name are different on 80% of the systems we
support, and there are multiple database entries on most machines. That's
driven by HA and other systems attaching to DB2.
I think a system service to retrieve all of the network attributes would be
fabulous. My vote would be to put it into the QSYS2.SYSTEM_STATUS_INFO
but anywhere would be OK.

I too was going to suggest
SELECT host_name FROM QSYS2.SYSTEM_STATUS_INFO;
But, just like those who aren't used to anyone not having their local
database name set to their system name, I was unused to anyone not having
DSPNETA set to the same name as that shown in CHGTCPDMN<F4>.
"What, you mean your system console is not DSP01?" kind of thing.

Developer gurus: a challenge! How would you get the system name of a
partition via an SQL statement? Not the host name or domain name. The
system name from DSPNETA.
