While they can't connect using SSO, try pinging their machine name (not their IP) from IBM I and see if it resolves. Kerberos requires DNS to be solid.
We have an issue under investigation where machines will inexplicably lose their DNS entry and SSO stops working for the users.

Good one but this describes a situation where Kerberos has not been set up on the IBM I and, in this case, the use IS set up for Kerberos.
What's weird is that after a reboot it doesn't work for about 15 minutes and then, without making any changes, it works perfectly.
