1) I don't have any customers using Webstart, don't see the need for it.
2) Customers do both, most of the ones with more than about 50 devices run
it from a central file share or in Citrix.
3) I'm not sure it matters, but most run it from a file server that is not
IBM i.
4) yes, but most already have a "public" or "system" type share set up
already. They just use that.
5) My customers set up two environments (folders with all the files in them)
on the file server. The drop the new .jar file in to the test area, start
it and test. Then just copy the .jar file to the production copy. When a
device restarts ACS they then get the new copy.

Really the only thing that changes in most environments is the .jar file so
when IBM comes out with one, they just drop it in on top of the old one and
it's done. Waaaayyyy to easy.......

Subject: ACS deployment questions

For those of you already running ACS,

1) Anyone using Java Web Start?
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/redp5304.html?Open

2) Are you running locally or from a central location?

3) If central location, from a network share server or from IFS?

4) If central location, does each ACS user need a mapped drive to the remote
location (network share server or IFS)?

5) If central location, when a new version is available, is there a way to
test the new version before deploying to all users?
From the info I'm reading, the applying product updates is done by
extracting the contents of a new version of the product on top of the
existing product files.
