Furthermore, the behavior of requiring the user profile/password when the PC
first connects to the system is the same behavior you are used to today.
That has not changed. When the PC first connects, it has to establish it's
credentials with the host, but it's cached, so once you do it the first
time, it's not required again unless the password changes.

As to the icon, if you fool around with the icon manager in windows you
could set up the new 5250 sessions to use the old icon. That's a windows
function.

That old 5250 emulator has not been updated nor enhanced in many years, time
to move on to the new supported stuff, aside from the end of support from
IBM as Larry already mentioned.

Subject: Re: iAccess vs ACS question

Admiral Grace Hopper would have a field day beating up these people!

The old emulator is not supported on Windows 10 and will not be supported at
all by this time next year. It will receiver no further updates while the
newer better ACS will continue to evolve and receive updates.

You can suppress the sign on by using single sign on. There is no optional
to use the windows userID and Password with ACS as there was with iSeries
Access. This is partly because Windows keeps changing and partly because ACS
runs on Windows Linux AND MAC.

I am in the process of planning an upgrade from V5.4 to 7.3.

I have resistance to change in switching the icons on our users PC
systems in some areas of the business. In the manufacturing plant, the
folk have difficulty recognizing the new icon does the same thing as the
old icon.
This really floors the folk to the point that if the icon is moved
from its position its in, they freeze as they do not want to get into
trouble for using what they perceive as a change.

Questions:
1. These users only use the 5250 session. Is anyone aware of any
issues for them to continue to use the older 5250 iAccess software?

2. Is there a way to suppress the initial prompt to connect to the system?
Once the 5250 icon is clicked on, it should go directly to the 5250
sign on screen.

TIA
