When you created your public/private key pair, you had the option to assign a passphrase. If you did that, the key will be encrypted with that passphrase, and you'll need to type it every time you use it.

Hi, no I think you should run a " chmod 600 authorized_keys " towards the

Hi Jay,

Yepp sorry haven't follow this tread too long - sounds correct as you
obviously imported the file to the /tmp directory.

If you ( still on target ) run:
ls -ltra

total 176

-rw------- 1 sysparr 0 406 feb 14 2017 authorized_keys

The authorities on the authorized_keys looks like above?

Best regards

stefan, first of all the target host (the sftp server) does not
contain that filename in the .ssh directory...

there is a step in Scott Klements tutorial that say to do this (on an
iseries sshd server), to import the key to the .ssh directory...

cat /tmp/id_rsa.pub >> /home/user-id/.ssh/authorized_keys

after I do that, I now have only one file called authorized_keys in
the .ssh directory...

If i view that file, i see the EXACT same rsa key value as the key
generated on the client side.
