Yepp sorry haven't follow this tread too long - sounds correct as you obviously imported the file to the /tmp directory.

If you ( still on target ) run:
ls -ltra
total 176
-rw------- 1 sysparr 0 406 feb 14 2017 authorized_keys

The authorities on the authorized_keys looks like above?

stefan, first of all the target host (the sftp server) does not contain that filename in the .ssh directory...

there is a step in Scott Klements tutorial that say to do this (on an iseries sshd server), to import the key to the .ssh directory...

cat /tmp/id_rsa.pub >> /home/user-id/.ssh/authorized_keys

after I do that, I now have only one file called authorized_keys in the .ssh directory...

If i view that file, i see the EXACT same rsa key value as the key generated on the client side.
