Rob,

7042-CR2 is the x86 server running the HMC code.
To manage P9 and P8 you need at least 7042-CR7
https://www-304.ibm.com/webapp/set2/sas/f/power5cm/supportedcodeHMCHW.html

If you plan tu use vHMC you need (officially) 4 cores and 8 Gb, but
you can use an Intel NUC + Core i5 + SSD + 8GB(Better 16GB) and
VirtualBox VM with 4~6 GB and can run with an acceptable performance.

I am looking for the system requirements for our 7042-CR2 HMC's to manage
both Power 8 and Power 9 servers.
- What version of HMC is required?
- How much memory is required?

Finding the memory requirements is really tough. I found one document
with a comments section at the bottom but it says not to ask a question
there but to beg and grovel to be admitted to the PowerVM LinkedIn group
to get your question answered there. I am waiting on approval there...
