In case you've not gotten the memo IBM is re-swizzling the version
numbers on the HMC with version 9.
Previously the first digit matched the POWER system platform. 7=POWER7,
8=POWER8, 9=POWER9. This part remains the same.
The next part matched the firmware of that platform.
e.g. 840 was required for firmware 840, 860 for firmware 860.
Finally the service pack tacked onto the end. So SP2 for version 8.860
was 8.860.2
With version 9 they flip the last two parts, kinda.
The initial version is V9.1.910.0
The V9 is for POWER9
The .1 is for the release
the .91 is for the firmware level on the POWER System and matches only
the FIRST TWO digits of the firmware release. (face palm)
the 0 (in .910) means fix pack 0. Fix pack 1 will then be .911
I have not determined what the final '.0' refers too.
The N-2 rule still applies for fix release upgrades.
Also the 'keep your HMC newer than your Firmware to stay out of trouble'
rule also still applies. That is Upgrade your HMC FIRST and your
Firmware SECOND.
Or shoot just read all about it here:
