I do think RPGLE is, for most IBM midrangers, the "natural" choice.
The way I read the question, OP is open to a broad range of
suggestions on the client side; it seems that the caller hasn't been
implemented yet. The critical fixed piece is that there is an RPGLE
program on the server that needs to be called remotely. It also seems
OP has the ability to introduce code onto both the client and the
server, so the critical RPGLE program could be wrapped by something
else, if that would help.
