I vaguely remember back on Power 6 we could load up a DVD and it would
automatically be available to all lpars. I also remember getting a lot of
phantom things showing up in WRKOPTVOL which wouldn't actually be useful.

I suppose you could go into STRSST
1. Start a service tool
7. Hardware service manager
3. Locate resource by resource name
OPT04
and see if you can see if it has been flagged as an alternate installation
device.

Perhaps someone there figured out how to virtualize the image catalog to
the guests.

On my machine I have something like that

Description . . . . . . . . . . . . : Optical Storage Unit
Type-model . . . . . . . . . . . . : 632C-002
Status . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Operational
Serial number . . . . . . . . . . . : 00-00000
Part number . . . . . . . . . . . . :
Resource name . . . . . . . . . . . : OPT02
Physical location . . . . . . . . . : U8286.42A.21443BV-V6-C362-T1
L8020000000000000
V6 to me, means virtualized.

C362 matches a Client SCSI adapter on my guest which points back to the
host.
On the host I have a matching 362 Server SCSI adapter.

On your hosting lpar, WRKNWSD
You may notice one with parameters like
IPL source . . . . . . . . . . . . : *NWSSTG
IPL stream file . . . . . . . . . : *NONE

IPL parameters . . . . . . . . . . : *NONE

But this is really starting to go way back on me...
