IDK why. Perhaps the IBM developer who originally coded it tried to do it
in one shot but tried to change *PUBLIC to *AUTL before he added the
authorization list and figured they had to be done separately?

You can submit an RFE to get them to change this.

You'll need to run two commands. Same command but with different options.

GRTOBJAUT OBJ(MYLIB/*all) OBJTYPE(*ALL) AUTL(MYAUTL) GRTOBJAUT

OBJ(MYLIB/*all) OBJTYPE(*ALL) USER(*PUBLIC) AUT(*AUTL)

They don't let you do this in one pass.

I want to create an authorization list to secure a large number of files,

but am wondering if there is any way to associate that authorization list

with the files easily.

For instance, I would like to be able to do an EDTOBJAUT ADDLST(NEWLIST)

command but there isn't any such beast that I can tell? Kind of like an

ADDOBJAUT, which also doesn't exist. Then I could put this all in a C/L

command that could be executed some night when no one is using the system,

such that it would go through and secure the files without having to do it

interactively.

Like the C/L Command could be something like:

EDTJOBAUT OBJ(FILEONE) OBJTYPE(*FILE) ADDLST(NEWLIST)

EDTJOBAUT OBJ(FILETWO) OBJTYPE(*FILE) ADDLST(NEWLIST)

.

EDTJOBAUT OBJ(FILE9999) OBJTYPE(*FILE) ADDLST(NEWLIST)

Obviously, the "ADDLST" parm is fictitious.

Is there an easier way to do this or how could I accomplish this?

Appreciate any ideas or suggestions.
