I'm with Steve. You've been overpaying and now they want to ding you for a fictitious P80 tier? Sounds like they don't have a clear and well defined license policy.

Keep those letters where you've informed them of the changes as they will be great leverage in negotiations or even in court if it goes that bad. At one point I took over telecom for the company I was at and discovered a circuit we were paying $1500 a month for to a building that had been razed a decade prior. The Telco said "Tough noogies, we'll cancel the circuit sure. But in 90 days per terms, and no money back." They changed their tune when we showed them the letter from them agreeing to the disconnect nearly a decade ago. (Thanks to a pack-rat boss!) As we were a current customer we agreed to an account credit but could have demanded a refund. Can't say what would work best for you.

P80? There's P05 to P50 tiers as far as I recall. If you've been paying them as a P30 since 2005 when in fact you had a P20, it sounds like they owe *you* a bunch of money.

3rd party package vendor wants to start charging us based on active cores.

Originally started with the vendor back in early 2000.

2000 - 9406-830 --> P30 Software tier
2005 - upgraded to 9406-550 --> P20 Software tier
2012 - upgraded to 8205-E6C --> P20 Software tier

For 10+ years that had us rated at a P30.
Now they claim we were rated incorrectly, want to rate us at a P80.
Significant increase in maintenance/license fees - 4x

Through the years, as we upgraded, we informed them of our new model, they issued us new license keys with no change in maintenance.

Could they be interpreting our current 8205-E6C incorrectly, or is this legitimate?

Anyone in the group have any similar experiences?
