Hi All:

Anyone else having issues with IBMi PASE and IBMi Portable Utilities for
i?

I was getting ready to test the latest cumulative package (8025) along
with updating to TR4
and had an issue with our two factor authentication at sign-on. I ran an
nslookup/dig to make sure
that it was not a DNS/Firewall issue and I receive the following error
message when attempting
to use nslookup or dig.

nslookup
Could not load dependent PASE for i module libcrypto.a(libcrypto.so.1.0).
Cannot load PASE for i module libcrypto.a(libcrypto.so.1.0).
Internal system error. Error code is 2.
Error loading PASE for i program
/QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/OS400/DNS/bin/nslookup. See previous messages.

I found this tech note online:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1021701

I opened a PMR and IBM recommended to me to re-install PASE and Portable
utilities.

a reinstall did not fix the issue.

They then recommended a PTF to be applied : SI66510
SI66510 - SC1-UTL Update OpenSSL to 1.0.2n
This PTF apparently updates OpennSSL to 1.0.2n within the Portable
utilities.
Unfortunately this PTF is not a V7R3M0 PT, its a V7R2M0 PTF.
Portable utilities does stay at the V7R2M0 level but I can't apply the PTF
to a V7R3M0.

I then looked at the cross reference from V7R2M0 to V7R3M0 and is says
that this
PTF is pending for V7R3M0.

5733SC1 V7R2M0 SI66510 V7R3M0 PENDING

I then took a shot and installed the latest PTF package 8025 and TR4 and
that did not fix the issue.

IBM Then tried to have be rebuild the symbolic links and that did not
resolve either.

All the products check out okay with chkprdopt.

I have a ticket open with IBM, apparently they are operating on a call
back basis this morning.
