Think out of the box.
Are you currently using a HA solution such as Mimix? If so, have your
users query that machine and not your production machine. If not, use
this an yet another excuse to get one. Along with the capability to
- Perform non disruptive saves on your HA machine and not have to worry
about save while active and the cruel joke that is.
- Minimize downtime when perform restricted state operations, OS upgrades,
PTF applies and that ilk
- Have a backup machine
We've not unloaded the query processing, but we have some little to no
performance degradation. However we do our saves on the HA box and we do
switches quarterly and just did one last weekend.
