In this case it's a current OEM document management software product, where
it uses the spool to create the PDF that is then sent to the customer at
order time, various different documents needed for the transaction. I've
been trying to get them to move the PDFs off the IFS. Now since they are
moving to 100% SAN storage we can use EasyTier to move those off to slow
cheap storage and use it as an on line archive.
Still does not really help backup/restore but it'll keep performance better.

What I find interesting about these techniques to save off old spool files
into disk files is they are predicated on decades old technology. The first
things which comes to mind are:
- pdf files created by print transform manager
- overlays
and more
