Hi

I'd urge anyone with a library who has not already done this to do at least
one recovery from an alt-D IPL so you aren't left wondering (and sweating)
on how to proceed should you ever need to do it in anger. Nothing worse
than getting to your DR site and finding they have a fibre attached library
shared between LPARs and you've only ever rehearsed restoring libraries
from a standalone SAS-attached drive only your single LPAR dev box.

Over recent years the number of people I run into who have ever recovered a
box from scratch is an ever-diminishing pool. With HMC's, FC connections,
VTL's, tape libraries vs standalone drives becoming much more common quite
a few of them who last did it 20 years ago have forgotten all the
intervening steps required before you ever get to the "restore library bit"
and are completely overwhelmed with even getting started.

Two answers: If you TEST THE RESTORE no I think you'll be OK, but, big
but, until you've tried a recovery, chances are the first one or two will
fail in some way.
