I tend to try to "bind specific" as many applications as I can. I even
have a RFE out there to expand the list of applications which can bind
specific.

I avoid Schowler Routes. I tried them initially many years ago when first
configuring Mimix and whatnot. It was just too confusing and prone to
errors. Now I use multiple IP addresses. For Mimix (now Q-EDD) I route
that over a different vlan and that works fine.

We did have issues when using multiple IP addresses over the same vlan (on
lpars hosting Domino for example). This was mainly due to our network guy
only allowing certain IP addresses to be able to talk to certain barcode
scanners and if they went out over a Domino IP address it failed. We beat
him into submission to allow the Domino addresses also.

In my experience, instead of trying to get stuff to work "by default",
like by whatever IP address is started first (via STRTCPIFC) or appears in
numerical order (this was a thing), it is best to be explicit on either
your routing or your binding.
