It should be significantly easier to reinvent the wheel with Python
than with C or RPG. In iSeriesPython, the whole copy is done in 5
lines:
# begin script
pf = File400('MYPF', 'a', lib='MYLIB')
with open('/path/to/myStreamFile', 'rb') as f:
for line in f:
pf[0] = line.decode('cp1252').encode('cp037')
pf.write()
# end script
