An early paragraph there states: This information describes how to
migrate your data to IBM i 7.3 from IBM i 7.1 or later.
Hopefully coming from 6.1 is acceptable.
To see what versions are supported on your target machine:

(and to see if your source machine can be upgraded to a higher release).
This list is not 100% bible. For example our old Power 6 could have
supported one higher release but we would have had to yank certain older
cards and enclosures. In our case that would have meant all disk drives
and some other stuff.
