Rob,
For the announcement link, have you found a way of viewing announcements more than a week old?
Link only shows last 7 days with no option to search/view history.

Apparently the latter service is everything but firmware.
Every Tuesday, after 9amET I check this site
https://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/apilite?infotype=an&infosubt=ca&lastdays=7&ctvwcode=us&hitlimit=200&appname=USN
I was skiing at Bittersweet yesterday so I checked it today.
This site is often messed up and I pick the top summary letter and often have to ignore the date as it sometimes doesn't get updated. But, in general, it works.

Rob,
Once again, I was dropped from the IBM Announcements, thanks for sending
this.
With a broken announcement system, how are IBM I users supposed to obtain
EOL/EOS dates.
Also, the dates are confusing and contradicting.
Using our P7 8205-E6C as an example,
In August 2017, IBM notified customers that the End of Service Pack
Support date on POWER7 hardware machine code (e.g. microcode and firmware)
would be September 30, 2017. More details on the specific firmware level
and Machine types included in this announcement can be found below.
https://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi-bin/ssialias?infotype=AN&subtype=CA&htmlfid=897/ENUS118-026&appname=USN
POWER7 SystemsT
Final Firmware level Machine type-Model End of
service date
AL740_165 8205-E6C September 30, 2017
On 09/17/17, via announcement 917-163, we were informed that our EOS date
is 09/30/19.
Class Machine Type Model
Product Name EOS Date
Low End / Entry 8205 E6C
Power 740 IOC 30-Sep-19
https://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi-bin/ssialias?infotype=an&subtype=ca&appname=gpateam&supplier=897&letternum=ENUS917-163
From a firmware viewpoint, what actually occurred is different from what
is documented.
AL 740-163 was released on 2017/09/09
Checking fix central today,
AL 740-165 was released on 2018/02/06.
From the firmware readme.
AL740_165_042 / FW740.C1
02/06/18 Impact: Security Severity: SPE
Response for Recent Security Vulnerabilities
* In response to recently reported security vulnerabilities, this
firmware
update is being released to address Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures
issue
number CVE-2017-5715.
What Vulnerability is AL740_165_042 / FW740.C1 actually fixing, details
are vague?
Is this for the Spectre and Meltdown?

Still hoping for a patch to Power 7 firmware for the recent meltdown and
other concerns? Forget you.
