Yes, it's RPG RLA. WRITE works fine, it's the UPDATE that's wiping the identity column.

This is an existing table and existing programs, with a new identity column. The programs do I/O against the table itself. They were recompiled when the new column was added.

Are you doing WRITEs with RPG? And are you omitting the identity column when you do the write by using a logical file which omits it, O-specs which omit it, or some other technique?
