In regard to your question about sending mail from Outlook to an IBM i SMTP
server, yes I have done that. In Outlook, you configure an account and
point it's "outgoing" email server to the IP address or domain name of an
IBM i server.

If I recall correctly, you'd need to add the sender's IP address to the
"allow relay" list, or the IBM i SMTP server will reject it. That can be an
*ADMIN burden if you have a lot of "senders".
