In regard to the question of when and whether to fire up a new JVM instance
may vary from application to application. Most people learn pretty quickly
that firing up a new JVM instance can be expensive. It depends on what
get's loaded with it. That may vary from application to application.
The more interesting part of this discussion was listening to Richard rag
on the JNI interfaces that is built into RPG. I don't share his concerns in
that regard. I've had good success with it.
