Jim,

We have all our I printers installed to 1 one of 5 Windows network printer servers.
Then on the I side, using TSPLPRD driver program.

CRTDEVPRT DEVD( BRCMANS1320) DEVCLS(*LAN) TYPE(3812) MODEL(1) LANATTACH(*USRDFN) PORT(0) FONT(11) FORMFEED(*AUTOCUT) PRTERRMSG(*INFO) MSGQ(QSYSOPR) INACTTMR(*SEC15)
PARITY(*NONE) STOPBITS(1) TRANSFORM(*YES) MFRTYPMDL(*WSCST) PPRSRC1(*LETTER) PPRSRC2(*LETTER) RMTLOCNAME('10.x.x.x') USRDRVPGM(QGPL/TSPLPRD) TEXT(' BRCMANS1320-Desc. from vmpsiprintsrv server') DEPLOCNAME(*NONE) WSCST(IBM1130)

Where 10.x.x.x is Ip of one of the printer servers.

SETRMTPQ DEVD(MAN_OUTQ1) RMTPRTQ('BRCMANS1320')
Where BRCMANS1320 is the printer share name.

Subject: print to network printers with long Win print jobs

Having an issue where printing to HP MFP printer, network attach, tried both PJL and SNMP driver pgm, and getting CPA403D inquiry message (V7R1) .
Have determined it is long running Win print jobs.

IBM has a 2014 technote - Writers for *LAN 3812 DEVDs End Periodically with Message CPA403D, which recommends changing PRTERRMSG parm of device description to *INFO (instead of *INQ).

Sounds good - just asking if that is the what most do when dealing with shared multi-function printers?
