Many moons ago, working for a large local retailer, we had a couple of similar instances.
Short shelf label description on a beverage ended up "Bartle's & James Pea". Not very appealing.
Buyer's name on a sales report got one letter cut off and ended up "Finger, Me".

Many other fields are also very short and have been forever.
