I was posed this question earlier today:

Hey,

I don't know how to magically get the count of the select query
below. Anyone know the trick?

SELECT DISTINCT PDDOCO, PDDCTO, PDKCOO, PDSFXO, PDLNID FROM F4311,
F47072 WHERE PDDOCO = 2590528 and SZDOCO = PDDOCO and SZDCTO =
PDDCTO and SZKCOO = PDKCOO and SZSFXO = PDSFXO and SZLNID = PDLNID
ORDER BY PDDOCO, PDDCTO, PDKCOO, PDSFXO, PDLNID

I have tried several iterations in ACS Run SQL, in STRSQL and in
Dbeaver.

The only "magical" way I know of to get a row count is in RPG by
creating an insensitive cursor and when you open it the following RPG
statement will capture the row count.

row_count = sqlerrd(2); // save actual row count

Otherwise, you can use the provided SQL statement as a subquery
and then use the SQL COUNT(*) function to obtain a row count.

Sincerely,

Dave Clark
