We do have some internal resources that can build web apps, but
wondering
if looking at a company that allows a 'template' over our current
screens
that we can modify wouldn't give us the best bang for our buck and get
us
up and running quicker. Will need to investigate the different software
out there versus us building from scratch.

We went with Profound Logic for this. They have two solutions...

The first one (called Genie) provides a template to render all
your 5250 screens in a browser. This template can even be made "smart"
enough (via JavaScript) to go beyond the template for certain 5250 screens
that don't quite fit the mold. Genie can also provide quite a bit of
modernization (e.g., changing certain 5250 field to dropdown selections)
via an interactive designer on a screen-by-screen basis (but that is
completely optional).

The second solution (called Profound UI) utilizes OA for RPG via a
provided handler. Combining this with their interactive designer allows
you to go completely web-based with your screen layout (i.e., creating
something that doesn't look like 5250 at all). This would be part of an
ongoing modernization effort and not part of just getting to the browser
in the first place. Genie is your "turnkey" solution for just getting
5250 rendered into a browser format.

They also have a browser-based menuing system (called Atrium) if
you need that.

Sincerely,

Dave Clark
