We have an 8202-E4B and it goes out of hardware support in 2019. That's something to think about before putting too much effort into improving your existing hardware.


Of course, our system has 8 drives, while yours only has 6. I guess it could be a different 8202-E4B, which might not be going off support.

1) What feature disk controller are you currently using?

2) Do you have a BP, I'm sure they could locate SSD drives.

3) Did you consider attaching a EXP24S for additional drives?

4) The SSD option will give you 4x the performance, switching from RAID6 to RAID5 will be slight.

5)Also, for future planning - BM announces end of service dates (no more maintenance) for various Power 6 and Power 7 platforms.
