As Glenn said, you have to create a share to the from directory and a
share to the to directory. If they are both subdirectories underneath
another directory you might be able to get by with creating only one
share.

Creating a share on the root directory is tantamount to submitting your
resignation here. Used to be all too common...
As Larry said, there is the time and comm lag. On small stuff, or local
stuff it might be negligible. Here, we have ~5 users in the same city as
any of our machines.
