My guess is that it will. It seems V5R3 was the cutoff for a lot of things.

Fun fact: The latest iSeriesPython runs on V5R3 and up. And it has a
lot of HTTP stuff in the standard library, as well as robust
third-party packages to fill in gaps, tie things together, and make
things friendlier.

So if for whatever reason the old HTTPAPI doesn't work, Python is an option.
