OK, so I've got all the ESS downloads on my IFS and Image Catalog has all the entries added.
So, the next step in preparing for upgrading v7r1 to v7r3 says to Load the Image catalog, thusly...

LODIMGCLG IMGCLG(V7R3) DEV(VRTOPT) OPTION(*LOAD)

It still fails with OPT1390 (Error with virtual volume image).
Originally, this was failing on the first entry in the Image Catalog (I_BASE_01), which led me (and others here) to think
I needed a PTF to correct the issue. Apparently that wasn't the issue because now I get through the first two entries before a failure.

Work with Image Catalog Entries
System:
Catalog  . . :   V7R3                    Status . . . :   Not ready
Type . . . . :   Optical                 Device . . . :
Directory  . : /catalog_directory

Type options, press Enter.
  1=Add   2=Change       4=Remove   6=Mount   8=Load 9=Unload
  10=Initialize volume   12=Work with volume

Opt   Index  Status      Image File Name
*AVAIL
          1  Mounted I_BASE_01_Licensed_Machine_Code_RS_730-C_LCD8 >
          2  Loaded B_GROUP1_01_IBM_i_RS_730-00_LCD8_2288_00.udf
/*          3  Error B_GROUP1_02_IBM_i_RS_730-00_LCD8_2289_00.udf*/
          4  Loaded B_GROUP1_03_IBM_i_RS_730-00_LCD8_2290_00.udf
          5  Loaded B_GROUP1_04_IBM_i_RS_730-00_LCD8_2291_00.udf
          6  Loaded B_GROUP1_05_IBM_i_RS_730-00_LCD8_2292_00.udf
          7  Loaded F_MULTI_NLV_IBM_i_730_Opticonnect_LCD8_2110_0 >
          8  Loaded F_MULTI_NLV_IBM_i_730_DB2_Multisystem_LCD8_21 >
More...
F3=Exit   F5=Refresh   F6=Load/Unload image catalog   F7=Verify image catalog
F8=Reorder by index    F12=Cancel   F24=More keys

So, does this mean there is something wrong with the download of the B_GROUP1_02 file?
If not, what am I missing here?
If yes, why doesn't the call to QVOIFIMG catch this?
(When I use the ADDIMGCLGE command to load an individual DVD I get a message that says 'verifying image contents...'
before it says it's loading it. Does the QVOIFIMG not work similarly?)

Should I add each Catalog Image Entry individually instead of the call to QVOIFIMG?

I'm starting to worry that I have to download each file, add it to the Image Catalog, try the LODIMGCLG command to see of it's an OK download.

Any suggestions?

Best Regards,

Thomas Garvey

We've had 7-Zip for PASE available for many years. Runs on V5R3 or later:
