Many of us keep copies of the files on our systems to be used multiple times
as well.

More to the point, it's the tool you are used to that counts.

If the uncompressed file is essentially the same size as the compressed
file, why would the bandwidth ever make a difference in the decision to do
it on the i versus on your PC?
