Image catalog on another system (was: V7R3 media - image catalogs)

A somewhat related question ... is there a way to put the OS ISO's for a system to be upgraded in a shared directory on another system (like a PC), mount the shared directory, and create the image catalog there instead of copying the ISO's to the system being upgraded?
