So I was just looking into this. If you're on V7R2 or higher you can use
SQL to query message queues.

I would think this would be pretty easy to then monitor for messages. It's
still something I can add to JOBWATCH if Jim or others are interested, but
with simple SQL it seems it can be done fairly easily.

Message queues are never fun to deal with, but this really simplifies
things. Here's the article I found:
http://www.rpgpgm.com/2017/05/using-sql-for-message-queue-data.html

Let me know if I am off base here... :) Again I'm happy to add this
feature, but I would use the SQL method as I recall the APIs for message
queues were not fun to work with. That means V7R2 or higher (with the
appropriate PTFs, Refresh, etc).

I will dig into it, Jim. It gives me a reason to move JOBWATCH up to
V7R1, if that's not an issue. I still have my V5R4 devo box I could do it
on. :) I do have many customers on old OS versions.

I've been meaning to add this to my JOBWATCH application. It already
monitors for MSGW (or any status) job and also can make sure at least "X"
jobs are running. This would be a cool addition.
