RE: IBM announces end of service dates (no more maintenance) forvarious Power 6 and Power 7 platforms.

Why would they keep them around? Why not sell them to some third party
maintenance for .05 on the dollar and say if you want the business go for
it? Why keep inventory for stuff you do not even want to maintain?
They may have a "best effort" time and material contract (and contract is
using the term loosely) available but even that would say you're going to
pay for that part at whatever value that person wants to charge IBM for it
(and maybe a little markup for IBM also).
And since it's "best effort" that effort may not include exhausting all
efforts to locate a part.
