We're down to one physical tape library. And it's been in a box for
months waiting for installation.

Now we're using a VTL and we currently have NO data on physical tapes
anywhere. Our VTL's replicate each other between two cities.

The sole use of getting a physical drive is for an extremely rare instance
of shipping data to IBM. Chickens with lips are more populous.

We've been through several gyrations of tape migration. Basically
bringing in our previous generation, duplicating them to current gen and
then clearing the tapes for resale.

You do not want to get so far behind that there's no way to duplicate them
to current gen tape drives. For example, trying to do a DUPTAP from LTO1
to LTO7. I don't think there's a platform which supports both. I know of
one company still using 3570's. When they migrate it's going to be fun.
