That's also my biggest problem with IBM i in general, as a relative newcomer to the platform (approx. 5 years ago)

Subject: AJS

I wrote a series of courses on AJS two years ago. My understanding is that Brian Younger worked for IBM when he designed and developed the original version of AJS. When he moved to Pinnacle, IBM had to pay him to make updates. Apparently, they got the copyright on at least the text-based version as part of the deal. (Can anyone else confirm this?) Since then, IBM added a System i Navigator interface, followed by a Navigator for i interface. The newest features are only available in Navigator for i.

The biggest problem I had was that IBM seems to assume that there is nobody using AJS who didn't start with the 1990's version. I had to learn concepts from the last green-screen manual Brian touched, written for 4.2. While there is a manual for System i Navigator, it covers only the stuff added to the first version of the graphical interface. I had to teach myself the Navigator for i version by playing with it for a year. Like most Navigator for i interfaces, manuals and documentation are nonexistent.

<plug>As far as I know, my 3-course series
(https://www.mantatech.com/manta/AAJS00.htm) is the only complete description of AJS functionality.</plug>
