Looked up chdev. It says use lsattr. Looked that up. Tried that at the
$ prompt in vios. not found
oem_setup_env
changes from $ prompt to # prompt
lsattr -E -l ent3
...
real_adapter ent0 Physical adapter associated with the SEA
...
And I noticed at the bottom of the help for chdev this little ditty:
You can use the System Management Interface Tool (SMIT) smit chdev fast
path to change device characteristics.
Well smit is like using a nice screen in 5250 land. Which is way better
than a command line with no prompting. So I drilled down into that. Found
the adapter and tried to change it. I got
<snip>
1800-109 There are currently no additional SMIT screen entries available
for this item. This item may require installation of additional software
before it can be accessed.
</snip>
Back to the command line...
chdev -l ent3 -a real_adapter=ent8
ent3 changed
lsattr -E -l ent3
verified!
lsattr -E -l ent6
real_adapter ent1 Physical adapter associated with the SEA
chdev -l ent6 -a real_adapter=ent9
ent6 changed
lsattr -E -l ent6
verified!
exit
to exit from # prompt to $ prompt
ping myibmi
0821-062 ping: host name myibmi NOT FOUND
ok, so maybe I need to reboot?
shutdown -force
Waited until I got
....Halt completed....
Verified it was "Not Activated" at the HMC.
Killed vios terminal.
Started lpar back up on the HMC.
Started vios21 terminal session. Seemed to take longer than normal but
when it eventually got there it was ok.
ping myibmi
worked!
